Typescripts of three collection of reminiscences. A poem "Memories of Flat Rock" by Mary Lehman Bemus begins the collection. Followed by "Incidents from Life in Old Flat Rock, Delta County 1859 to 1863," by Mary Bemus, and "Early Delta County Days", by James R. Champ. All three were recorded by Cornelia Jensen. There is much local history and lore in these early reminiscences. Flat Rock's early history is detailed. Champ tells his family immigrating from England to the U.S. and settling originally at Fairport. Fishing and hunting are described, as are some of the early settlers on the Garden Peninsula. Later the Champs moved to Escanaba's north shore. Approximately 50 pages typewritten, 8.5" x11". |
