Mimi (Lempi) Ranta corresponded with several soldiers during World War II. This letter was written by Hilding Erickson when he was stationed over in Germany in March of 1945. In the letter he mentions her sister, Lydia, the fact he has bad penmanship, that Germany is much like the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, that Belgium is the nicest country he had been to, that it had been a long time since he had seen a good looking girl, that he met a fellow soldier from Escanaba, how strange it is the number of things he had to learn in the army, and, finally, that he hopes to here from Mimi soon. The envelope was stamped by an army examiner. |
