Summary |
This small booklet lists the safety rules for employees of the railroad. the rules themselves take up only three pages, but are repeated in English, German, Danish, Swedish, French, Italian, Green, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, and Croatian. It appears that the workers in the rail shops of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway were largely immigrants from all over Europe. The railroad's emphasis on the safety of their employees is, perhaps, a reflection of the number of serious accidents that happened in and around the rail shops and yards. |
