Description |
Probably taken to show the work of the Kirstin Stump Puller this series of twelve snapshots shows a large tree being cut down and the stump pulled out. The Kirstin home at 403 South 12th is shown in a number of the shots. The Stump puller was manufactured in Escanaba by the Kirstin family from circa 1910 to 1933. At the height of activity the company had a staff of around 50. The manufacturing area was located behind the Chatfield Company, They also manufactured an early version of the gas gage for automobiles. |
