Description |
Color photo J.J. TURNER at the Escanaba coal dock. Printed and sold by the Smith News agency of Escanaba. There is a sailboat in the foreground of the photo and the original yacht club was near the coal dock in Escanaba before the yacht basin was created. The TURNER operated under that name from 1915 to 1931. This postcard may be hand colored from an earlier black and white photograph. The boat was ultimately sold for scrap and foundered in the Atlantic Ocean in 1962 on its way to Italy to be scrapped. |
