Mrs. Van Dyke is seen in middle age in this portrait photograph. She is wearing an elaborate dress with large puffy sleeves, a small cameo necklace and a high collared blouse. On the back the Mrs. Cobb has written "Maria VanDyke, Aunt Hattie's mother." While the Young and Devlin families called Hattie Farrell "Aunt", she was not related to them. She was a dear friend whose friendship felt to the Youngs like that of a favorite aunt. |
