Description |
11" x 14" print of a photo of an early biplane in flight at Escanaba, July 3, 1911. A newspaper clipping in S.B. # 59, p. 4 details the crash that ended this flight. The plane is quite close to the ground. There is a line of trees in the distance, a fence and group of people standing along the fence near the foreground. White writing along the bottom is similar to writing on some local postal cards of the same period. Flight was made by Henry Cowling of the Chicago Aeroplane Company. and this may have been the first flight here. It took place at the Fair Grounds. |
