Description |
A pair of men's baseball shoes with metal spikes. The bottom of the shoes read: Converse Patent Pending. The soles read: Converse Signature Series. The main color is yellowed white. There are teal stars and a crooked stripe running across the top of the arch. Fourteen shoelace holes in each shoe, with yellowed, frayed shoelaces in them. The name Tapani is handwritten in all capitals over the velcro on the tongues. The right shoe has a split at the big toe. The left shoe has a tear of about 1 1/2 inches on the tongue. |

"Tapani grew up in Escanaba and led the Escanaba Eskymos to the Michigan High School Class A State Football Championship [in 1981]. He pitched for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs. He pitched for the Twins in 1991 when the team won the World Series."--Quote from Craig Woerpel in his report, Ballfield named for Tapani, former MLB pitcher from Escanaba. The ballfield at Veteran's Park in Escanaba was named for Tapani in 2014 -- the very field he grew up playing on. Tapani was born February 18, 1964. Tapani is retired and is now a high school baseball coach in Plymouth, Minnesota. |
