Description |
Small, metal hammer used for the secure closing of cigar boxes. Handle and head have various notches for unknown purpose (possibly used to removed nail from boxes) , and at least two areas of the tool which were likely used as a wedge or lever to re/open the boxes. One side of the handle says: "Cleary Brothers | Escanaba, Mich." The other side says: "Smoke Guarantee Cigar". Cleary Bros. Cigar Co. was located at 307 - 309 Ludington (location of the current Secretary of State Building), according to the 1913-14 Polk's City Directory. |
