Description |
Wooden plaque inducting Clarence Lehr into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame consisting of two flat metal plates mounted onto a piece of hardwood. The upper plate, possibly made of brass, has an outline of the Upper Peninsula with the words "UPPER PENINSULA", "Sports Hall of Fame", and "Marquette Michigan" all engraved into the plate and painted green. The lower plate, possibly made of steel, has a black and white picture of Clarence Lehr on the left side and a short write-up about him on the right side. The lower plate has been painted black where it has been carved out around the picture and the write-up. The write-up emphasizes his hometown of Escanaba and his sports career including being a member of the Escanaba High School's 1904 state football championship team, that he played football and baseball at the University of Michigan, that he was briefly a utility infielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, and that he was the commissioner of the Detroit Racing Association. |
